Chocolate Almond Smoothies

Craving a treat but don’t want to break the calorie bank? Try this chocolate almond smoothie recipe. It tastes like a shake, but has the goodness of smoothie ingredients like banana, almond milk and almond butter. Cocoa powder provides a chocolate fix, while pure maple syrup adds a touch of sweetness. Sip on this, and skip the ice cream.

Chocolate Almond Smoothies

Good and Green Smoothies

Yup, you guessed it. Spinach is the “green” in this green smoothie recipe. Skeptical about sipping your leafy greens through a straw? I was too when a friend suggested I try a spinach smoothie. Several bags of spinach and lots of blending later and I’m hooked on the tasty green drinks!

Here are a few tips for adding greens to your morning smoothie:

  • If you’re new to green smoothies, try a spinach fruit smoothie recipe. Spinach is mild and has a fresh flavor so it tastes great in smoothies.
  • Already love spinach smoothies? Try adding other greens like the leaves of kale, Swiss chard or romaine lettuce.
  • Any greens you use should be very fresh and cleaned well. Even “prewashed” greens should be rinsed before using.
  • Blend well. Greens should be completely liquefied into the smoothie.

Good and Green Smoothies
1 cup unsweetened soymilk, almond milk, orange juice or water
1 medium banana, sliced

1 cup ice cubes

Easy Roasted Pumpkin Seeds Video

Save your fresh pumpkin and winter squash seeds! Roasted pumpkin seeds are simple to make and have a satisfying crunch. See how to make an easy pumpkin seeds recipe. Perfect for Halloween treats or a healthy snack. Simply toss fresh pumpkin seeds with oil and salt and bake until toasted. Season with your favorite spice blend like chili powder, garam masala or cinnamon. (My favorite is garam masala.) This simple method for roasting pumpkin seeds can also be used to roast seeds from butternut and acorn squash.

This is the first video created for my blog. It was a fun experiment and I have lots to learn! (This is what happens when you have a friend with a video camera and a little too much time on their hands.) Anyway, we had a great time making the video and plan to create more recipe and how to videos. Leave me a comment if there’s a recipe or cooking tip you are interested in seeing on the blog. Thanks!
